Walker Announces Chippewa Flowage Forest Legacy Easement

With the signature of Governor Scott Walker on Tuesday, October 4th, nearly 10,000 acres of forest land near Hayward will now be permanently protected.  This significant deal represents the first major Stewardship purchase for the Walker Administration.

"This easement is granting the people of the state permanent access for recreational purposes, it prevents future development of this property and it ensures the land is managed sustainably for years to come."

-- Paul Delong, Wisconsin DNR's Chief Forester.
